Anyone else here into Anthropology? Archaeology? Human evolution? Primates? Different cultures? Well, I am. I'm majoring in Anthropology (specifically archaeology). Where my anthro buds at?

I'm not an anthropologist... I'm just a shovel bum who fell into archaeology quite by accident after getting my undergraduate degree in business management. I've loved my years of fieldwork and wouldn't trade them in for the world. You won't get rich, but you'll get to see some awesome places and meet interesting people who share many of the same beliefs we hold on this forum. Everything I own fits into the back of a 1989 Jeep Cherokee quite nicely and to be honest, even at 49, I wouldn't want my life any other way. Best of luck to you in your studies!

I've been reading with interest about the discovery of now extinct homo (sapiens) sub-species: Neanderthals, Floresiensis and Denisova humans, and how it seems different groups of modern humans today have varying amounts of DNA from these due to interbreeding. I believe I read sub-saharans don't have any Neanderthal DNA, whereas the Denisova DNA is widespread in Asians etc.

Mark Kurlansky wrote a book called "A Basque History of the World" where touches on this a bit, wrt Basques. Given things you appear to enjoy, I think you'd like the book, and also his other books, most notably "Cod" and "Salt".
