Voluntarily married to a sociopath

I don't think their mental illness will allow them to be one as they are unable to feel empathy for others. It's been shown that it's caused by a brain malfunction, so there isn't any way to fix it. I believe treatment just shows them how to correctly act and behave in society, but it doesn't change that they are still motivated by self-interest.

eta: I feel sorry them, it must be an awful way to live your life, without any hope of it getting better. That being said, I've had the misfortune of meeting two before and they brought varying degrees of misery to every living thing that crossed their path. Given the choice, I would rather not come into contact with one again.

I thought your bad leaders and others like Timothy McVeigh are considered sociopaths. Am I using the wrong term?

Can they be a good person?

Random question. o_O

Psychopaths: how can you spot one? - Telegraph

I've read quite a few times that some sociopaths and psychopaths are not violent criminals and some may be high functioning business people or just people you know in everyday life who lack empathy for others and do not understand emotion as most of us feel it.

People who are diagnosed with Antisocial personality disorder often have Conduct disorder as kids or young people.

From what I've read recently, Islamic State is getting involved in Libya. It's basically in chaos since the United States, UK, and France decided to intervene, similar to Iraq. Where do the wives of the leaders involved fit into this? We destroyed Vietnam and Iraq. Where do their wives fit into this? What about Eva Braun? What about wives and husbands of corporate executives that are causing great misery?

Do you mean should they be charged with crimes? The spouses?

I am not qualified to diagnose anyone but I am thinking my boss may be a sociopath. Not psychopath but sociopath. It's hard enough to work for one. I can't imagine being married to one.

Marriage should be between one sociopath and one non-sociopath.

It's Adam and Hannibal, not Hannibal and Norman.

(Also, what definition of sociopath are we going off? The actual diagnosis? ASPD, which everyone seems to muddle with everything else? Generic "violent" mental illness? And is this just some back-door way of opening up a conflict about some totally unrelated political issue? It looks like that last one honestly.)
