Today is the 15th day of April. Today in history:

1865: Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the recently reunited United States of America, dies from his wounds after being assassinated the previous evening while taking in a play at Ford's Theater. Some people will be taking note of the 150th anniversary.

1947: Negro Black African-American baseball player Jackie Robinson debuts with the Brooklyn Dodgers, breaking the color barrier and opening the way to desegregating what was then America's National Pastime.

1912: The British passenger liner RMS Titanic sinks in the North Atlantic at 2:20 a.m., two hours and forty minutes after hitting an iceberg. Only 710 of 2,227 passengers and crew on board survive. Oodles of words have been written about this disaster. Songs have been sung and movies have been made about it. One of those movies apparently annoys quite a few people.
