Holy crap I didn't even get that. I was wondering why he opened the door. I just assumed he opened it because it would've looked too suspicious if it were closed.
 
We didn't get that either! I was wondering why Rick was doing some of the things he was doing in the house so that explains it perfectly.

This episode didn't really do much for me. It was all right - just no 'wow' factor.

My wife and I looked at each other as soon as he opened the door and both of us were like: 'Why the f did he do that?" We didn't put the pieces together right away either. But it was WAY too convenient to have their be some disturbance inside the house just as Rick was trying to intercept Carl and Michonne. An 'aha' moment. Nothing is filmed randomly in this show.
 
It was slow but I'm starting to get used to the whole character development thing. Every episode can't be jam packed with suspense and drama. Would be nice though.

Am I the only one who doesn't dislike Beth?
I mean, she's not my favorite but I like how she handled Darryl and herself in this episode. I think she had a valid point with regard to the fact that she has survived so far.

One thing I found funny was how she referenced how she doesn't cry anymore yet she cried last week (or was it the week before?) and this week. Haha. :p

Daryl is starting to gross me out more and more. I find his strength , badassness, and heroic behavior attractive, but his greasy dirty appearance and some of his actions are pretty off putting. The skinning of the snake was downright horrible and very hard to watch. Actually I had to look away. Watching them in the woods made me realize that I would be totally fucked if I were in that type of situation. There's no way I'd be able to survive in the woods. I wouldn't know which berries and plants were okay and I wouldn't be able to take an animals' life. Good thing I don't go camping or hiking and go anywhere near forest like places.

Completely agree with this. However, I did wonder if this is episode and the previous episode where she narrated are a big set up to her death. I haven't read the comics so I have no idea if she lives or dies, but I just kept thinking throughout the episode that they were foreshadowing her death. Especially the scene were she went on and on about how Daryl would miss her when she's gone.

I am getting used to it too and not finding it so bothersome like I have in the previous seasons. I was thinking that maybe it's because I feel more for these characters now. I didn't have so many feelings invested in the characters during the previous season and honestly didn't care much for them, but now it's like we've been on the journey with them for awhile now so it's nice to get to know them more .

And yes you are the only one who doesn't dislike Beth. :p Just kidding. I'm sure there are some non Beth haters out there. ...somewhere. I do like how she pointed out that Daryl was confused as to how she survived this long because she isn't as strong as Carol, Michonne, or Maggie. I hadn't even thought about that until she brought it up.

I do not want her and Daryl to hook up though. I feel like they are bonding in a sibling like way and I don't want that to be ruined. Plus isn't she really young? I always get confused by her age because for awhile there it seemed like she was going to start a relationship with Carl.
 
I agree Darryl was gross in this episode. I kept thinking how icky they both were, actually. I wouldn't survive in the wilderness, either. I think I posted somewhere before, where I would probably just lie down somewhere, curl up in a ball, cry and die, lol.
I always thought Beth was too old for Carl yet she does seem young for Darryl. I think I'd rather see her with Darryl, though, instead of Carl if I had to pick one.

^Yep! I was so relieved when they found clean clothes and Beth put on clean shirts. I was hoping Daryl would too. It sucks that her shirts didn't stay clean long though.

Darryl freaked me out a bit in this episode, I agree. In the context of the show the snake didn't gross me out - you eat what's available to you, I guess - but it does bother me that they probably obtained a dead snake just for the purpose of skinning it in the episode. Oh well, not any worse than the meat they use for fake corpse flesh and have fake zombies eat (although it is worth noting that they give vegetarian zombie actors fake meat, which is really thoughtful).

Not very eventful altogether, and not my favorite group at the moment, but it was still a very interesting and important episode in terms of character development. As for Beth, I can't even remember if she was in the comic... I should re-read it again sometime soon.

One of the first thing that popped into my head during the snake skinning scene was that there was no way that was faked. I didn't realize they used real meat for the flesh eating scenes. Those scenes never grossed me out because I always assumed it was just red dyed corn syrup and jello-like substance filled props. Now I'm completely disgusted.:yuck: It does make sense that they would use real meat because that's exactly what flesh is.

I don't understand how Beth and Darryl stayed in the trunk for so long in those crammed positions. My neck was cramping up and my back was tensing just watching them.
I found Beth's quest for alcohol tiresome at times. I really liked the country club scenes. The people hanging were super creepy and the woman mannequin scene was sad. I was hoping that Darryl wouldn't partake in the drinking because I figured he wouldn't be a nice drunk. It's interesting that now that the group is broken up their relationships with each other seem to be getting stronger than when they were all together.
 
I think they said on The Talking Dead that the "snake" was an eel when he was eating it. Still... eewww. As for Beth's fate..... I do think she will be killed off soon. She is not even in the graphic novel. But then neither is Daryl....

This reminds me...I had to watch that scene three times and I'm still confused. There was all this noise, then quiet, then noise. Was Darryl shooting from inside the trunk? It didn't look like it but I couldn't figure outif it was just walkers outside or if there were people, too. Don't know why I had such a hard time with that.

That scene remains a little foggy to me too. I was afraid if the zombies saw them getting into the trunk that they'd never leave - and if there was a swarm of them - holy crap what a way to go out. How long could they possibly have stayed in there?

I don't really enjoy the focus of an entire episode on just one group. Backstory is important - but they ought to be able to write in good backstory and character development scenes and still jump from party to party. Downton Abbey pulls this off quite well: very short, to the point scenes - covering a myriad of characters and alternate storylines. Of course - this may mean cutting a few of the 'Oh look a zombie!' <insert gore and knife to head> scenes. But I could miss a few. They are sort of cheapening it at this point. Anyway - I feel like I need at least a few minutes with everybody - especially when they are split up like this.

Hershel had other daughters instead, and they didn't make it this far. The closest thing to her was maybe Otis' girlfriend, who, again, didn't make it this far.

I'm watching it now and I won't say much because there's still ten minutes left. BUT HAS EVERYONE LOST THEIR FREAKIN MIND?!?!?

When the gang of men met with Daryl, was that meant to be before or after what happened with Rick at the house?
