Should you tell others that you're vegan?

I think so. Although I have heard from some people that they are given a hard time. but the people I meet are mostly at least accepting if not impressed.
It's also a very simple piece of advocacy.

Honestly, it depends on the moment. If someone's cooking for you or asking why you're skipping the cheese platter, sure, just say it plainly — no big speech needed. But turning every dinner into a lecture tends to backfire; people tune out fast when they feel preached at. I'd say mention it when it's relevant, answer questions if people ask, and let your actual choices do most of the talking.

Reactions: IndianVegan and Lou
you have already gotten some good advice but I just thought of something to add.

there are a lot of vegans who are shy about advertising. Which is ok for them but no so good for the movement. I imagine there are people out in the world who think they don't know any vegans. While in reality they might know more than a few. if people know that they know some vegans - maybe veganism will be normalized.

the other thing is that sometimes vegans get bad reactions from people. Maybe the. best advice is just to ignore it. However I always welcome the opporunity to explain.
