News Pope Francis visit to the U.S.

The pontiff will arrive in the U.S. on September 22, a week from Tuesday. In case anyone is interested, here's his official schedule.

This will be his first visit to this country. He's already disliked by conservatives here for his emphasis on taking care of the poor and downtrodden. He's apparently not your typical pull yourself up by your own bootstraps type of guy. He's also big on wanting to combat climate change, another reason why conservatives are not exactly fans of his.

He's going to meet with the president and then give a speech to a joint session of Congress.

My recommendation: Buy popcorn.

I think he (or at least the Vatican) helped or mediated in the negotiations that lead to the agreement with Cuba as well.

In his politics he seems to have much in common with Obama.
