Last Thing You Bought?

Does TJ's syrup a quart? Costco is 33oz at like 14-15
I'm thinking of opening the eggplant spread that is a can like the Dolmas. I've never had it, but Merle on YouTube loved it.
Yes, 32 ounces. It used to be around $11 for the quart. I almost bought the eggplant spread for the same reason, lol. I love Merle!

I just bought 4 new snow tires for my car, despite the fact that we don't get a lot of snow here. They were secondhand, on rims, and in great shape. I couldn't pass it up. I will definitely benefit from having them. Those days when we do get snow I will feel much more confident heading out on the roads.

I remember the days of snow tires when I lived in Minnesota and Iowa! Glad I don't have to deal with that anymore here in Florida! :D

A big shopping haul from the local hypermarket, Carrefours. I was pleased that I found 800g of hay costing only 2.15 € for the stray cats. I also picked up a huge red cabbage weighing 6 kilos for only 1.70€. I also got a free planner with my loyalty points which normally costs 4€.

I also picked up some Epic Violife, a pack of bangers and 2 pea protein schnitzels and some strawberry coconut milk yogurt which was reduced.

I'm very happy with all of my bargains, plus the coupon for 8€ that was deducted from the total bill.

So happy I found another Parmesan substitute since I can't get the follow your heart anymore. I eat a lot of pasta and soup and I need parmesan for both. The Panacheeza is so much better than the Nooch It which has a strong garlic flavor. I needed straight parmesan. Real parmesan does not have garlic.

I bought some makeup and shower gel etc... from Superdrug and we ordered a tumble dryer as we got the electrician round. I have been putting up with drying laundry on airers for the past few years since we moved here and I'm very happy to be getting a tumble dryer instead. :)

@KLS52 I just went to Panacheeza's website. The ingredients for Parmesan-style are cashews, nutritional yeast, Himalayan sea salt, garlic powder, and apple cider vinegar. An 8 oz container of the Parmesan style is $13.99- WOWZA! That amounts to $27.98 per pound. I think I saw a $1 discount for an online order, but still.... I used to love me some parm, but I don't think I love it that much.

Garlic?!? I checked before I bought it lol. If it's in there, at least I can't taste it like I do with the Nooch It.

I paid $22 for 16 ounces last week on Amazon.. It's now up to $27. Insane.
I do love it that much and I use it everyday on something, whether it's pasta, soup or rice. I honestly could not get by without it and was considering going back to Dairy Parmesan before I found it. So I will pay however much it costs at this point as long as I am able.

@KLS52 Vegan cheeses of various types are becoming quite popular, as so many of us mention cheese as the thing we miss the most. The demand is there- and so is the competition. With luck, someone will develop a vegan parm as good and as healthy as Pancheeza's- and for a lower price. Don't give up hope just yet! :yum:drool:👍

ETA: the Pancheeza ingredient list actually mentions Himalayan pink sea salt... I wonder if that's their magic ingredient?

I've been tempted to try Violife parm--

I forget what block cheese I would freeze that reminded me of Parm. Pretty sure it was Daiya block mozzerella. It was all crumbly after being frozen.
I refuse to buy anymore Daiya. They keep changing the formulas and I'm never sure what I'm buying

I like Violife parm for certain things but not for pasta and soups.
It has an odd flavor. I buy the block.
I love Violife feta. When you freeze that it becomes crumbly like dairy feta.

I do like the Violife Parm. It's even good sliced on crackers, though it is a harder cheese, of course.

I never liked parmesan cheese even when I was omni. Some of it isn't even vegetarian most of the time because of the rennet.

I bought some replacement Skecher style trainers (sneakers) as I'm going back to Brighton next week and I had forgotten that I left them there as they got ruined by the rain!

I don't think so. Plant based products are always far more expensive compared to their counterparts. Most probably due to less demand.

Pink Himalayan salt tastes no different compared to white salt. However, it looks very pretty. I looked up the list of ingredients and there doesn't seem to be one magical one. Frankly, you could make this mixture at home for a fraction of the price.

This is the only plant based Parmesan cheeze that actually tastes like authentic Parmesan. The only downside is the price.

I dislike Daiya cheeze as it has a very 'plasticy' taste to it.

The only products that I like is their vegan New York style cheezecake.

This is one of the very best Parmesan pb cheezes that I've ever tasted. However, I find the grated version to be far better compared to the wedge. I always add it to pasta and risottos and fine that it really does add that particular parmesan flavour. I agree with you that parmesan tastes nothing like garlic.

Authentic parmesan is omni as it contains rennet. I must say that it's very hard to duplicate as it has a very distinct flavour. There's nothing that beats it when making a pasta or risotto dish.
