For lettuce-lovers on the lookout for romance, a new dating app called Salad Match has launched.

It asks users to enter their favorite type of leaf, topping, and dressing, along with a photograph of themselves and matches them up to other single people with similar tastes.

The software, which is free to download, was launched by New York-based takeout spot, Just Salad, which says many of its customers bond in line over their love of vegetables.

Salad Match isn't the only food-based dating program out there.

Others include GlutenFreeSingles.com, SamePlate.com, and veggiedate.org.

I can understand a vegetarian/vegan dating site, but salad??? I may be veg, but I rarely eat salads.

i kind of like salads but I dont like washing all of the little leaves. So I dont have them often. Veggiedate sounds good though.

I love salads. :)

And Freesia, I don't know about Down Under, but here in the US we can get triple washed and bagged lettuce. It's probably a good idea to wash the lettuce again, but I usually don't and I don't get sick from it.

Yes there is washed and bagged lettuce but I like to wash it again. OCD.

I'm pretty bad about washing lettuce. Unless I see dirt, I usually don't, I don't like it soggy.

Eww, some of those salads have meat, I don't know why I thought this would just be for veg*ns.

I signed up for Veggiedate years ago. It was a waste of time imo. It's not a free site. You have to pay a monthly fee in order to contact someone. It's free to set up a profile and search a bit, but in order to actual communicate with someone you have to shell out $20 +. It's also not a very popular and active site so it's difficult to find someone around your area.

I agree that taste in salads is an odd thing to base a relationship on.

You guys may remember Exit (or Exitof99 or something like that was his VB name) who runs a veggie dating site. It looks like it's at http://www.veggiekisses.com/ . No idea whether it's active or not.

It says "New Members in Last 30 Days: 0 Join Now and Make it 1 More!" so I'm guessing not.

I think certain things make sense, like an actual lifestyle such as a religion, allergy, or veg*nism. But any food loving taste is odd.

Is that why my bunny grunts at me? Because I don't share his love of salads?
