However, claiming to be offended can also be used as a power play. It all depends on the intentions and the context.

I agree totally and really F'ing annoys me (can we cuss on this forum?). If annoyed or offended I will do my best to never do it again and understand why and how. but offended out of "principle" really annoys the hell out of me.
