Help with poison ivy...

Has anyone found a way to get rid of poison ivy that doesn't include harmful chemicals? I am determined to keep chemicals off of my plants, bushes, grass, etc.. so that my yard is safe for the wildlife. I have a severe poison ivy allergy so I can't go full bore into the bushes anymore to get rid of stuff. Thank you!

is there anyone in your area that has goats to rent? google this, it could work

google also says the spring is the best time to pull them out by the roots (when the ground is still wet) - never burn the plants!!! and also says that herbicides are the best and even that can take a long time (years)

@Emma JC was wise to mention not burning the stuff- the smoke itself can also give susceptible people a rash (or worse) if they don't avoid it.

I'm susceptible to getting a rash from it, but so long as I see it, I'm generally OK. Just the other day, I was pulling some of it, using empty bread bags to protect my hands.

There are lawn care companies that use goats for maintenance, and if you have a lot of poison ivy you should check them out!
Do wear long gloves, and disposable clothing, covering everything. Wear headgear, mask and googles. You can use plastic bags over your shoes and tucked into pants.
Lay a tarp, old sheet, or shower curtain around them and cut down, then completely wrap the vines up for disposal. You do need to dig out the roots.. I'd suggest covering the ground with a dark plastic to be sure the roots die
