Good vegan intentions

except for all the "dangerous animals"

also what about pet dogs and cats. I'm sure this is a controversial statement, and I'm not going to take the time to gather "evidence" but I bet there are more cows, chickens and pigs killed to make pet food than all the animals lions, tigers, and bears (oh my) kill.
Interesting...
If we only include big cats and bears, that's certainly true. There's around a billion dogs on Earth and a similar number for domesticated cats whether feral or pets.

Tigers - less than 10 thousand
Lions - Less than 25 thousand
Jaguars - around 170 thousand
Leopards - 250 thousand
Snow leopards - 5 thousand
But then if we include smaller wild cats...
Bobcat~2 Million to 3.5 Million North America
Leopard Cat~Millions (Stable) Asia
Caracal~1 Million+Africa & Asia
Serval~Hundreds of Thousands Africa
Ocelot~800,000 to 1.5 Million The Americas

The best guess including all wild (not feral house) cats is 100 million.

- even then it's way less than house cats.

Gemini says...
"
When we remove domestic pets and livestock-adjacent scavengers from the equation, the number of wild carnivoran mammals (members of the biological order Carnivora) is estimated to be roughly 300 million to 400 million individuals.

While this sounds like a large number, it is starkly overshadowed by the nearly 1.6 billion domestic dogs and cats that now dominate the planet's carnivore population."

Although if you include snakes, birds, fish and other aquatic animals, that figure is probably reversed, although skewed somewhat due to the numbers of small rodents, birds, fish etc, compared to pet food which is often made from cows and pigs and other larger mammals.

I wonder if OP even thought of fish, whales, turtles, snakes etc?

*also spiders.
Apparently they are dedicated carnivores...and get this, their population on Earth is estimated at...wait for it...21 quadrillion.
Which is 2.6-2.8 million spiders PER PERSON.

And get this... spiders eat more animal matter each year than humans do...yikes.

Humans have essentially played gods for millennia. We are the reason the world is choking to death.

Preventing certain species from breeding would be the ultimate act of hubris, and quite probably spell the end of life as we know it.
Nature is certainly cruel, but it's a balance.
Without us on the planet it would be covered in forest, jungle, grasslands and be teaming with life.

As it is, less than 4% of the mammalian biomass on Earth is wild animals. That's what we've done to it... And you want to reduce that further?
Without predators, certain herbivores would decimate the environment...
This is the very reason, for instance, here in Sweden, where the wolves have all but been driven to extinction, that hunters get to kill moose, deer and wild pigs in the name of conservation.
And the thing is, they do need to be reduced in number. Sure, we could find non-violent methods, but they would be more expensive and let's face it, are not going to happen.

By the way, no non-human animal can be vegan. Veganism is an ethical position, not a diet. Gorillas are plant-based, but also eat insects, and even deer and moose and zebras and wildebeest will consume a certain amount of insects also.

Your ideal, predator-free world would essentially be teaming with rabbits, koalas and 3 toed sloths. Most other species of herbivore are also opportunistic omnivores.

Ruminants, who do eat mainly grass and vegetation also take the occasional egg or baby bird. Even horses will eat small rodents or birds from time to time.

I do understand the idea, but haven't we already meddled enough?
I just think with the cruelty that animals have to endure in places such as zoos and the danger they pose to humans in the wild never mind the bad smell as well such as keeping dogs and other pets.... its just not my thing plus the illegal fur trade and other animal goods. I just think if people spent their time managing the foliage and minding it's growth for the better of humanity then people will have more hope for the future and feel better in the present moment. As vegans and allowing only vegan wildlife I just wonder how things could be... maybe it would eradicate homelessness for humans and other problems. As for marine life well this would be untouched. I'm worried about the future of the planet and seeking vegan solutions with fasting.
