Some useful information on how to avoid your air fryer appliance to catch fire. Fires started when using air fryers have rosen by 403% in a year in the UK!

Experts have revealed the Do’s and Don’ts to avoid an air fryer fire, as new figures show the devices are now used more than conventional ovens in the kitchen.

New survey figures from the Good Food Nation study found that air fryers are now the third most used appliance in British kitchens after toasters and microwave ovens, as the devices soar in popularity.

Now experts are urging households to avoid easy-to-overlook mistakes to avoid a fire.

Don't put oil inside?! I always do that when I air fry potatoes.

Here is the best answer to your query:

Is it okay to put a little oil in air fryer?

While your Philips Airfryer does not require oil to cook and fry the food, adding oil directly to fresh ingredients when preparing them, such as freshly peeled potatoes or tofu, can create a crispy layer and improve the overall taste of your dish. Note: Never pour oil into the pan of the Airfryer. Oct 16, 2024

Don't quote me but I imagine a small amount of oil rubbed on the surface of the food isn't going to do any harm. I imagine they mean don't pour oil into it. As I said, don't quote me, I might be wrong.

That's right; you should never pour oil onto the food or basket. I usually just spray food with oil before baking it.

Most people forget to clean their air fryers.

The underside of the air fryer hull where the heating coils are housed is prone to food splatter and gunk buildup. Some forum users on Reddit's air fryer sub have admitted that they ignore the icky buildup, but that could be genuinely dangerous. Cleaning it every few weeks with a wet rag will reduce the risk of an air fryer malfunction and keep the food you're cooking from becoming tainted.
