Literature Cheap/Free Kindle Books

I read a lot of crime, thriller and fantasy. Also some sci-fi. Working my way through some classic literature too. But people can post anything, I'm sure I'm not the only person who would be interested in some cheap ebooks.

These guys have put a lot of effort into making mobi/prc books that are out of copyright available for free. They also have epub for peeps who use a Nook or other epub reader.

Also if you don't have it on your computer, download Calibre a free ebook management library tool. One can add books one downloads into the library, plug your kindle (or other ereader) into your computer and send the books to the reader via Calibre.

I also like the Baen free library, but mostly SciFi/Fantasy type stuff. Lots of free books as well as reasonably priced non DRM'd books which usually run a flat $6.00.

I'm sure you already have, but if not you can go through the kindle bestsellers in the free column.

EDIT: All of the links are for amazon UK.

Sorry for the strange formatting of this post. I had it all written out and lost it just as I was about to post it. So I’m writing it out in Word now so I don’t lose it again.

Jane Austen:
The only free Jane Austen books are Pride and Prejudice and Northanger Abbey. I went through all the reviews for the different paid versions and these were the best. (The others had reviews saying the contents page didn’t work. These ones work fine on my kindle.)
All 6 novels for 77p: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002KMJHOG/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title
The rest of her works for 77p: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001RTT6CQ/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

Lewis Carroll:
You can get them for free. However, the poems are missing from them and you have to download another free book which just contains the poems. (No idea why they can’t just have them in the book.)
Anyway, I have this book. Illustrated Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass for £1.29 : https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003B657NK/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title

The other thing I'm doing is working my way through the newspapers. Most of them have a 2 week free trial but I don't know if you can cancel the subscription through your kindle or if you need to do it on the proper website.

I swear there used to be a list of all the non-classic free books available but I can't find it anywhere. :( I also got this book https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005ISAYDW/ref=kinw_myk_ro_title for free 6 days ago while looking at free books on my kindle but I can't remember how I got onto the list of them. :( I'm so confused now...

Woohoo! I'm looking forward to checking out any books posted. I haven't been reading much lately because I got bored of trawling through the kindle free books store looking for decent reads. I'll look at what I have & post anything good here too.

Forster pretty much covered everything I was going to.
Out of the free Baen books I particularly recommend:
A Plague of Demons by Keith Laumer and Retief! by Keith Laumer.

You also might think about downloading all the Sherlock Holmes books through Project Gutenberg
And taking a look through Project Gutenberg Australia (this link will take you to the mysteries)

I just posted this link on a different thread, but it's still on my clipboard, so there it is. Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte. Project Gutenberg has many other classics in Kindle format as well. Which Dropkick just mentioned but I failed to notice.
