Not exploiting or harming animals as much practicable is different to choosing to not spill blood only when it suits you, which would be a type of hypocrisy, I don't think it is wrong to ask anyone, vegan or not, to try not to spill blood without calling names or bashing .Its not hypocritical to buy meat for your cat if your a vegan, but that cat food also comes from the same farmers that slaughters animals so if you do then it is hypocritical to go off at someone that eats meat. This is where the problem comes in why society bash on vegans. Of your hands have blood on it then you have no right to tell meat eaters that all animal lives matter and they are crual assholes for eating meat. You cant just choose what to support when it suits you.
There is the issue that it is biologically is harder for cats to be vegan than people for whom it is biologically easy.
The availability of plant-based cat food I think is a wonderful thing enabling the end of slaughter houses.
One should remember though any human can be vegan, including those who are not vegan already and who have existing cats - it is about doing as much as one can.
