''This week, poultry giant Perdue Foods filed a lawsuit against Direct Action Everywhere in an attempt to stop our protests outside the home of one of their executives, Jason Arnold. Arnold is the Director of Operations for Perdue's Petaluma Poultry slaughterhouse, where he oversees the killing of around 49,000 chickens daily, and where whistleblowers have documented criminal animal cruelty including evidence of animals being boiled alive.
This lawsuit is yet another example of powerful corporations throwing money against activists to silence free speech and keep their crimes hidden from the public. It is a classic SLAPP suit—a strategic lawsuit against public participation—using Perdue's multibillion-dollar resources to try to crush free speech through expensive litigation. But we won't be intimidated.

We'll continue to expose the truth about animal cruelty happening at Perdue's operations and defend the right to peaceful protest. The public deserves to know what happens to animals behind closed doors.''

This is Kitty, a sweet and gorgeous cat who was dumped by her owners who lived on an expensive housing estate on my road. When they moved away they left without her. Since then she has had two litters of babies, who have died. I stepped in and we caught her spayed. She has befriended another stray male cat and they hang out together in the residence where I live.

My concern for her welfare is that she's getting old (lots of grey hair) and may not be able to survive the harsh Winter nights. Every time that I see her, she comes running out as I always stroke her and talk to her. Everyone else in the residence ignores her as they don't like cats hanging around.

I feel so sorry for her and there is nothing that can be done for her welfare or wellbeing. She very often looks depressed and seems to cry. I don't know whether what I hear is crying but it doesn't sound right.

Today's (Saturday) demo outside Brighton University to mark World Day for Animals in Laboratories (WDAIL). Thousands of innocent souls are tortured and killed every year in the name of research when the reality is it's all about money, funding and lining the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies. With pointless tests, like feeding pregnant mice alcohol to see what happens. Pointless, evil and cruel.

Thank you to everyone who stood together in 50 cities across the planet today.

How many seals are killed each year?

In recent years, hundreds of thousands of seals have been killed annually in the commercial seal hunt. More than one million seals have been slaughtered in the past five years alone. These kill levels are among the highest witnessed in Canada in half a century. The last time seals were killed at this rate—in the 1950s and '60s—the harp seal population was reduced by as much as two-thirds.

Moreover, the actual number of seals killed is likely higher than the number reported. Many seals are shot at and injured in the course of the hunt and studies suggest that a significant number of these animals slip beneath the surface of the water, where they die slowly and are never recovered.

we actually have commercials playing on YouTube encouraging everyone to support the seal hunt as there are so many they are eating all the fish which is killing the fishing industry on the east coast... STOP EATING FISH!!! let the seals have them...

Devastating news: Father and son, and animal rescue pilots Matthew and Paul Berkovitz, were killed in a small plane crash in Southern California.
Their beloved dog, Brody, who regularly traveled with them on rescue missions was in the cockpit with them and has also died.
Paul and Matthew were volunteers for Pilots N Paws, helping rescue animals across the USA. They’ve helped save countless animals from euthanasia and were huge animal lovers.
Our sincerest condolences to their family and friends on their tremendous loss.
💔

RIP lovely people. We will never forget your kindness towards those who are voiceless.

UK ANIMAL CRUELTY FILES

This is Oaveed Rahman aka Obi Khan, aged 25, a former backyard breeder operating under the name Bad Boyz Kennel and founder of a so-called dog rescue called Save a Paw UK based in Crays Hill, Billericay, Essex.

Rahman has operated his one-man rescue, which is unregistered and has no charitable status, since late 2024. In the months since, he claims to have rehabilitated and rehomed dozens of reactive large-breed dogs. Quite the miracle worker then considering most rescues are bursting at the seams with 'problem' dogs, who are nigh-on impossible to rehome in the current climate.

Rahman apparently tells people he is rich with a mansion and farm with acres of land, but there is no evidence of either. He boasts of having "six degrees" in canine behaviour and training but his qualifications are dubious to say the least.
He reportedly pockets a £250 donation, sometimes more, for every dog he takes on and promises anxious owners that they will receive updates on their pet's progress. Then, deafening silence ...

To date, 46 dogs, including those pictured, have effectively vanished without trace since being surrendered to Save a Paw UK. Few if any, have ever seen a vet as their microchips remain unscanned, the registration names unchanged. If he bothers to reply to former owners, it's to feed them vague platitudes like "your dog is in a new home and doing well". He refuses to provide any proof of this, however, citing data protection laws of all things.
Some people are now so worried about their dogs that they have demanded that Rahman show 'proof of life'. When pushed, he reportedly becomes defensive and aggressive or simply blocks people.
There is speculation that dogs are being sold into dog-fighting with Rahman working in conjunction with the Crays Hill travelling community to move dogs covertly around the country. Or maybe he's just taking the money and killing the dogs. These are just rumours though and Rahman emphatically denies any wrong-doing.

The priority is to find out what has happened to the 46 missing dogs and to urge anyone considering giving their dogs to Save a Paw UK to please think again.

@shyvas I'm glad I learned about the way the dairy industry harms animals quite some time ago, but wish I had learned even sooner.

Don't we all! I wish that I was brought up as a vegan. It's strange but when I was a teen, I thought that something wasn't right about eating too much meat. It's a shame that veganism wasn't predominant at that time as having moved to France, certainly didn't help.

All those years wasted but I'm certainly catching up now. I'm also in awe of my friend in Brighton (59 yrs as a vegan) who brought up her 4 sons to be vegan (one isn't because of Downs syndrome) and their children (4) are also vegans.

As I think that I have said before I became Vegan whilst living in France…. I was back in Northern California visiting family when I read the book “ Diet for a New America “ I had already been Vegetarian for about 5 years… This was over 30 years ago… For me living in France made it So easy to become Vegan because of the Wealth of Fresh fruits, vegetables and grains with Organic foods being readily available… Tofu either plain or flavoured was also always available… I first lived in and around Avignon, then in the region Parisian and lastly around Montpellier… The Whole food or Health shops had Plenty on offer, perhaps not much of the ready to eat stuff, but I Never found it difficult to remain Vegan… Now that I am living in the Republic of Ireland there are Lots of ready to eat foods, however, I miss the Abundance of Delicious produce!

So, un update on those innocent 800 goats that perished in a barn fire. It was a heating lamp that fell onto the hay that was the cause. This was exactly what I thought had happened. This farmer needs to get prosecuted for animal neglect.
