I can't bear going to the hypermarket/supermarket during this time of the year. It's heartbreaking to see the live lobsters and crabs as well as the shelves that are laden with foie gras and meat:
Please don’t feed birds fat balls in plastic nets, they can be death traps. Instead use metal fat ball feeders and buy loose fat balls.
This is why Chris Packham has resigned as president from the RSPCA and why they do not have my support:

About fireworks: I wonder how generally people are aware of the hazards they pose to animals? I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I wasn't that aware of it until I saw my sister's dog's reaction to thunderstorms. He wasn't afraid of people, and never backed down if another dog challenged him at the dog park- but a rumble of thunder would have him cowering.

Here in the United States (urban areas), some people don't like pigeons. But they wouldn't even be here if humans hadn't brought them over.
