  1. Vegan
1) "I have IBS. I can't eat high Fodmaps"

- In reality, many vegan foods are low in Fodmaps - while you may not tolerate beans well, you can still eat lentils, tempeh and firm tofu.

Check it out: https://thefodmapfriendlyvegan.com/blog/

2) "I have Celiacs disease it would be too difficult to stop eating gluten."

- Why? As far as I know, the only vegan food you'd have to avoid is wheat (and therefore seitan). Avoiding gluten is actually easier as a vegan in public places, because restaurants are so irritated with the growing numbers of vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free requests, that many menus now just cram it all into a couple of dishes that is all of the above, or only offers vegan desserts which are made with nuts or grains other than wheat.

3) "I'm allergic to tree nuts and soy."

- Well you're in luck since you could drink hemp milk instead of soy milk, or pea protein milk instead of almond milk. No soy sauce? Great - try Coconut Aminos. You can't have peanut butter? How about you try sunflower butter instead.

4) "I'm allergic to beans and quinoa."

No...no you aren't. In fact quinoa and beans are listed specifically as hypoallergenic "safe" foods for highly allergic people. Irritable bowels? Fine, just have lentils and quinoa instead. And remember to wash your quinoa, genius - that "allergic" reaction you had was just you not rinsing your quinoa or soaking your beans properly before cooking them.

5) "I have an autoimmune disorder."

- Then you'll be pleased to know that a vegan diet across the board tends to improve the health of those with autoimmune disorder, you'll suffer much more if you keep eating dairy or meat.

6) "I want to do low-carb."

- Okay - this is just as ******** as someone claiming they're allergic to quinoa, but hey, it's your funeral. Go ahead. Here's Eco-Atkins:

7) "But I'm a man. A man's man. An athlete. A body builder. I need 3000 calories a day."

- I don't even want to dignify this with a response, so this gentleman should be able to help you instead:

8) "I have Chron's disease."

- Actually I understand that this is a very serious digestive complaint that can lead to severe sickness and malnourishment, but there is evidence that plant-based diets help ease the symptoms of Chron's:

9) "I don't like health food. I enjoy my food."

- Luckily, someone invented Pinterest. Imagine that:

10) "It's too expensive."

- Any diet can be expensive if you shell out a lot of cash on convenience foods, processed foods and junk foods. I used to see people complain about the cost of healthy food, only to observe the actual price of a bag of Doritos or how much it costs to drink Coca-Cola instead of water or home-brewed tea and coffee. Meat on average is more expensive than whole vegan foods (like beans, tofu, tempeh...all very affordable). If you buy all organic vegan, you still paying more for organic animal products so I don't understand your sudden concern troll. Sure, if you stock up constantly on faux meats, frozen vegan dinners, and vegan desserts, or aspire to make gourmet vegan meals, yes it will cost more than eating hot dogs or Spam...but that's like comparing apples to oranges in terms of quality and nutrition, so w/e.

This is so good! I'll refer to it often as I'm forever having people tell me why they cannot eat a vegan diet. And this while telling me they love animals!

Need to bookmark this one and read whenever I'm on a vegan diet and is compelled to eat meat.

Excellent post. Dr. Greger has an amazing video about Chron's disease:

I find it amusing that people claim being vegan is more expensive than being an omnivore. They clearly have not bothered to check the price of meat, seafood, eggs, and milk. It's especially expensive to be a meat-eater when one eats out. When my husband and I went vegan, we noticed that our restaurant bills went down by at least a factor of two. You'd have to work really hard to spend more on food as a vegan than as a meat-eater.
