porridge

Recently when I was in Michigan, we visited a Scandinavian-inspired restaurant, and one of the dishes I ordered was corn porridge (I think semolina?) with vegetables, whole corn bits, and herbs. I quite liked the taste of it. Anyone here know what I'm talking about? Is savoury or dinner-style...
