TV & Film Roger Ebert Passes Away at Age 70

He was a pretty good reviewer - he understood that some movies were meant to be deep, character-driven dramas, and some were just meant to be fun, and judged each accordingly.

ETA: I never knew that Aguirre, the Wrath of God was on a top 10 list he did. Now I really need to see that. I tend to like Werner Herzog.

:(

I was watching him back when he was first teamed up with Gene Siskel on PBS. I always enjoyed watching them and followed them when they moved their show to ABC. But when Siskel died and Ebert got new reviewing partners, I lost interest. Siskel and Ebert just had great chemistry together.

Indeed they did. They were the perfect movie reviewing duo. I still continued to watch for a little while after Gene Siskel's death , but it was never the same.

Weather you agreed with his reviews or not, you can't deny that Roger Ebert was extremely passionate about his views.

I just read about his death this morning. I know he was very Zen about death, but it saddens me nonetheless. Much more than a movie critic, I feel lucky to have lived during the same time as did he. I hope his wife Chaz, who is an amazing woman in her own right, can take some comfort in knowing how much he was loved.

My favorite Ebert remembrance so far: http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2013/04/04/176273118/remembering-roger-ebert

There have been a couple of these floating around, but this one is my favorite, although it makes me sad every time I see it.

Very much agree!
