Today my former uni (Manchester Metropolitan University) is having a vegetarian and vegan event. I'm at it right now, and thought I'd make a thread about it to share any interesting info that I find from it :)

Here's the event page: MMUVV | Humanities in Public | Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU)

I've just heard talks from John Robb and some members of the Manchester Vegan Society. One of my favourite quotes so far came from John:

"It's easier to cook [vegetarian food] too, you can't poison yourself unless you're a total idiot".

A cookery demonstration was given by the Cordon Vert cookery school, I've posted the recipe here.

I also bought a few things from the stall run by a local veg*n shop - I stocked up on garlic mayo and vital wheat gluten, and they had cartons of ready-made bechemel sauce so I bought some to try out.

At the end of the event, one of my former lecturers gave a speech about animal activism before the documentary Blackfish was shown.

All in all, a pretty good event :)
