Friday 27 January

4pm: Light the Darkness

On Holocaust Memorial Day, get ready to ‘Light the Darkness’ with us. Light a candle at 4pm and safely put it in your window to:

• remember those who were murdered for who they were
• stand against prejudice and hatred today

Holocaust Memorial Day Trust | Holocaust Memorial Day

The UK Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) Ceremony is the focal point of HMD in the UK and brings together the civic, faith and political leadership of the country, alongside survivors.

I've just watched the following interview and it's heart wrenching. Even Sophie, the journalist couldn't hold back her tears:

Holocaust survivor describes horror of watching Nazi death squad kill her mother

On Holocaust Memorial Day, Hannah Lewis tells Sky's Sophy Ridge about her experience after her family was rounded up by Adolf Hitler's troops and forced to march to a labour camp in the Polish village of Adampol in 1943.

Have just read this article, well worth reading (warning: heartbreaking as usual, of course):

LEST WE FORGET

A reminder that the responsibility of remembrance does not end with the survivors—it lives on through their children, their grandchildren and through all of us.
