I couldn't delete my post so I edited it to this.
I wrote a post here that I don't want to write anymore so I tried to delete it but couldn't. Sorry if I offended anybody. I didn't want to say bad things about my family anymore.

Broccoli, cabbage, AND spinach??!! What are you nuts?! No wonder your family is alarmed. At this rate you hair is going to turn green.

Oh sure the general recommendation for and from Everybody is for 3 cups of vegetables a day. But no one expects it to be 3 cups of different vegetables. Just cabbage would be fine. in fact the Irish famously only had cabbage and potatoes. If you get anything better than that you are just spoiled.

;)

@Earthchild , I think Lou was joking!
Yes I realised that. It's ok, I just felt bad about talking bad about my family so I tried to delete message.

I spoke to them about issue. They were ok with spinach but the issue was I got perfectionist about following Dr Greger's Daily Dozen. I didn't want to go a day without the perfect quotas.

Now I'm more easy with it and still following it but not perfectionist about it. When money is tight I will try to let it go...not be so perfectionist.

Issue sorted. 👍

I get it. When I first read How not to Die, and got on nutritionfacts.org, got the DD on my phone-I really checked each thing from list and tried my best to meet all the servings. For maybe three months I did great. I lost needed weight, felt terrific, had more stamina and exercising was easier. I didn't have typical seasonal allergies, and didn't need my asthma inhaler. Then I just lost it.
Thing is, even not following it, I now have the understanding of what I should be having every day, and that makes it better than any diet tracker

Can you grow anything?

you make a good point @silva - I have read and watched and listened to so many different people and I continue to do so as I take what I learn and incorporate what works for me - I started off with Dr Esselstyn and I just couldn't do it his way completely - then Dr McDougall which more closely represents where I am now - Dr Greger I love and have read his books and still watch his Youtube videos and I have taken from his information lots of good things - I feel it is important to watch vegan youtubers both to learn things and also to keep in the mindset and so many have great vidoes for cooking etc - High Carb Hannah is back posting regularly and she has a new book out and many might find it helpful

I used to have the check list laminated and stuck on my frig and would check things off as I did them.
Eventually it became sort of routine. but I never got all that hung up on it and now I barely think about it.

No way I could do three cups of vegetables a day.
Well, like a lot of other things you might have to make an effort.

Vegetable soup is a great way to add some veggies to your diet.
or stews.
So is salad.
And Stir Fry
green smoothies.
You can also add some snacks. like celery, carrots and edamame.

aslo saying cups is misleading. you want 3 SERVINGs.

here is a breakdown of
  • Leafy greens: Two cups of raw leafy greens like spinach or kale count as one serving.

  • Cooked vegetables: Half a cup of cooked vegetables like broccoli, carrots, or peas counts as one serving.

  • Salad vegetables: A medium tomato, three celery sticks, or 7 cherry tomatoes can be considered a serving.

  • Other vegetables: Half a cup of cooked vegetables like corn, or beans can also be a serving.
