Again, the poor butchers in France, being harassed and intimidated by those nefarious vegans.

French butchers warn government about vegan violence

Butchers in France have written to the interior minister to ask for protection against violence and intimidation from vegan campaigners who "want to impose their lifestyle on the immense majority of people".

This article has more information, but is, of course, from a more sensationalist source:

I personally like the claim to end "physical, verbal and moral violence" from a group of persons that have made physical violence their daily job. :fp:

In 2015, January 18, in our city, some thugs who called themeselves "vegan activists" crashed a butcher's shop which was called "Vegan's nightmare"(!!!) ("Strashnyi son v'egana"). They'd been throwing stones and petrol-bombs into the show cases, and writing threats on the walls. Of course, after that everybody is blaming real vegans in violence and hates them,- the authorities even threatened that they would harrass vegans and close vegan shops, but thank god there were more important things for the authorities to do then. First of all, what they'd been thinking of, calling the butcher's shop like that? And wasn't that obvious that those frights' intentions were just to cause havoc and cause damage to our vegans' reputation?:sigh:

As the saying goes: "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." *

In order for veganism to succeed, I think it's important that vegans remain peaceful, even when faced with provocations. We just need to keep cool and do our thing, and get the truth out about the violence inherent in the meat-dairy production system.

France has been slow to adopt veganism compared to neighbouring countries such as the UK and Germany. Now that it's perhaps starting to catch up, the forces of tradition are becoming nervous, so they try to discredit veganism with campaigns such as this, they try to curb the progress of veganism with health scares and ridiculous laws to prevent naming non-animal milk, cheese, meat (based on soya, oats etcetera) as anything with "milk", "cheese" or "meat" in the product name.
