I cannot comprehend this and think that we need an International animal welfare organisation to put an end to these
slaughters. Moreover, dolphins trust human beings so it's really easy to capture them.

The practice of dolphin hunting in the Faroe Islands has come under scrutiny after more than 1,400 of the mammals were killed
in what was believed to be a record catch.

The pod of white-sided dolphins was driven into the largest fjord in the North Atlantic territory on Sunday.
Boats herded them into shallow waters at Skalabotnur beach in Eysturoy, where they were killed with knives.

You cannot justify something as being a traditional indigenous hunting event when it involves motorboats baiting and cornering animals for slaughter.
I cannot imagine the ancestors thought of such torture and waste!

There was a small protest in front of the Danish embassy in London but very little uproar in the media which is surprising.

Now, he said, the Faroe Islands are not dependent on this as a food source.

“So now they maintain this tradition, partially because it's under tradition, partially because they oppose to foreign interference, and at least they claim that many hunters still hunt because they don't want to stop because of foreign pressure,” he added.

“Traditions are hard to end,” he said. “People cling to their traditions with all their muscle fibres and this is one of those traditions where even their own health government is asking them to be very careful eating the meats and blubber, like the fatty tissues from these animals.”
