Health, environment & animals - why are you vegan?

Nice story, rogerjolly. I saw a TV program a couple of weeks ago that said that: the closer people come to the meat production (e.g., that people see the animals being slaughtered) , the less motivated they become to actually eat meat. In other words: people want the steak on their plate, but...

Health, environment & animals - why are you vegan?

I thought it would be interesting to hear WHY people became vegans or started to eat less meat. The reason for that is because I am doing it almost 100 % because of the (extreme) environmental impact that is connected with the meat industry. However, I know that people also see a vegan diet as...

    Vegan experience in Japan.

After living almost five years in China, I have to agree with some of the comments here. Thing is that people in Asia almost don’t put any meat in their dishes. However, “all” of their dishes contain meat. In other words: you will always find a small piece of beef/pork/random animal when you go...

    Hello from the cold north

Hello veganDreama, thanks for the warm welcome! Actually, I highlighted the products that I no longer use. I still have milk in my vegan lasagna and have a yoghurt "now and then", but nothing special. Btw, my website is: https://sustainabilitymattersdaily.com/ I try to write a couple of blog...

Greenpeace and friends of the earth have not made veganism a clear need.

Good point! Most people do have very little experience in making vegan/vegetarian food as meat is often added as default when people cook dinner. And yes: a (heavy) tax seems to be the only option that really works.

Greenpeace and friends of the earth have not made veganism a clear need.

Yeah, please don’t get me wrong here. I agree with you. Swapping red meat with chicken is far from the perfect solution. Talking about regulations on red meat, this new article from The Guardian is actually quite interesting. Now it just comes down to how strong the farmer/red meat lobbyists...

    Anybody else dating a non-vegan?

I am not a 100 % vegan/vegetarian myself, but I have heavily reduced the number of meat portions. A “normal week” would previously mean 7 meat portions … now its maximum 2. However, I recently met a girl that loves beef. She simply can’t get enough of it. As I really want us to eat the same...

    Hello from the cold north

Thank you, everyone! Nice to meet you :) Hehe, despite being a big fan of the domestic music scene, I do like other artists more (Kurt Nilsen, A-HA, Astrid S and Highasakite for example). :) But good to hear that our culture is known in foreign countries, despite being a so small country up...

Greenpeace and friends of the earth have not made veganism a clear need.

When I first saw that movie, I was not aware of the extreme environmental impact of the livestock industry. But the strongest quote in that movie was: “If everyone just stopped eating beef and started eating chicken, we would save the world”.* *= Might not be a 100 % accurate quote, but...

    Hello from the cold north

Hello there, I am a guy from Norway that has been following the discussions here for quite a while. After starting my first website about sustainability and the environment, I became more and more aware of the environmental impact of eating meat. Despite not being 100 % vegetarian yet, I am...
