Hi everyone!

My name is Tash, I am 19 and... You guessed it... I'm a vegan newbie! :) I have literally just started although have been thinking about it for a while. I am not embarrassed to say that I am not going vegan for a specific reason. Yes, it's about the animals. Yes, it's about the environment and yes, it's about the health benefits. But I'm going vegan because I want to. It interests me and I want to understand it.

Anyway. I would REALLY appreciate ABSOLUTELY ANY advice or tips or whatever about being a newbie to veganism! Obviously, I have done a bit of research before starting so I don't start and immediately starve because I don't know what I can or can't eat. But substitutes and 'accidental' vegan food would be really helpful. Also, any advice on how to substitute. I.E. Ratios. How much xxxxx do I use as a substitute for xxxxx? Hope that makes sense?

But anyway! If you have any questions about me, please ask. I am very open :) And I hope you don't mind me asking questions about you. I am a very inquisitive, curious girl!

Also, I live in Cornwall. Does anyone else? (Where do you all live?)

Hello Tash and welcome to the forum. We welcome questions and inquisitiveness!

You'll find this site full of useful advice, such as what deficiencies vegans need to be aware of.
As for accidentally vegan food, see this post: https://veganforum.co.uk/threads/giving-things-up.449/#post-1931

If you are talking about protein substitutes, you will quickly find - with a little more research - that protein is not something you need to be terribly worried about (even as a vegan). This thread discusses protein on a vegan diet: https://veganforum.co.uk/threads/protein-problems.464/#post-1977

All the best. :)
