Woman's passport application rejected because she's an 'annoying' vegan

Actually a very interesting story, quite telling about Swiss culture rather than veganism, but nonetheless interesting.

This is quite funny. We need to bring humor into veganism. Many of us get a bad rap for being too rigid. We need to have fun while conveying this serious message.

Authorities should have a single standard that applies to all. What does it matter whether the neighbours like her or not as long as she fulfills the national criteria for a passport?

Well, the rules in Switzerland happen to be that before a certain person is given Swiss citizenship, their fellow neighbours are interviewed and have a say in it, so it IS one of the criteria for Swiss citizenship. (On a sidenote, if I, personally, wanted to become a citizen of a small Swiss rural community and were aware of that fact, I would maybe refrain from complaining about the noise of the church bells, but it seems the lady in question feels she has to protest every real or perceived injustice she encounters)

But she has successfully received Swiss citizenship by now, anyway :)
Vegan deemed 'too annoying' to get Swiss citizenship wins battle for passport

Not much more ridiculous than having everybody vote on every single law. Which, btw, is the reason why women were not allowed to vote in some regions of Switzerland until 1971 ....
