You could make it at home with chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic and salt.
You can also add in other ingredients, like fresh herbs (dill or cilantro), Sriracha (or smoked paprika), curry sauce or powder, or things like lime juice instead of lemon juice and stir in mashed avocado.
I don't recommend adding maple syrup. I did this once, because I love maple syrup and a recipe on-line recommended it, but it was weirdly sweet in a way I didn't care for.
