Literature What are you currently reading?

^ I liked Bad Monkey the TV show.

I am about to start a book called How to Have a Great Life: 35 Surprisingly Simple Ways to Success, Fulfillment and Happiness.

Just finished "The Night We Lost Him" by Laura Dave that I waited a long time to get. It is really really good! Much like her other book I read, very character driven with lots of mystery, secrets, family drama and a devastating love story. Great read and I will look for her other books.

The best lies was ok, strange detective story.

"The last devil to die" made me cry like a baby. He has a fifth installment of the tmc coming out next year. The Netflix movie should be coming out next year also, great cast. The series is very charming and I saw the thing that made me cry coming, but it still made me cry. No spoilers.

I have a library pick up today.

I finished the X rated rom-com Christmas trilogy today. Book 1 is called "Merry Little Meet Cute" and book 2 is "A Holly Jolly Ever After." While not my regular reading choice, I did enjoy these funny, raunchy, and often heartwarming books. Most of the time very funny and lots and lots of sex but some serious subjects were in the stories. Like fat-shaming as one of the main characters is a plus-sized porn star and one of the men has a "dad bod." The characters have very real feelings of doubt and low self esteem and learn to cope with the help of friends and family. I liked the series a lot.

I couldn't get into Merry Little Meet Cute - I did read The Return of Ellie Black (thank you @Chryssie ) and it was very interesting and also The Last Thing He Told Me which I think I already read before - I am currently reading Eruption (thank you again @Chryssie ) and enjoying so far.

That first book was pretty weak. The second one is much better and I think I liked it the best of the three. You are welcome!

Today I finished the second Cainsville novel by Kelly Armstrong called "Visions." This is a really good occult series and I have reserved book 3 and a novella. The inhabitants of the small town of Cainsville are not what they seem. Olivia has to deal with threats, visions, murder, and a very hot romance with the son of a biker gang leader. Ms Armstrong is a very good writer and there are several occult series to discover.

I started "home", but It was the 11th in the series and stopped because I had no clue about the characters.
I started "the boy from the woods" tonight. I did fully read the second book "The match" and found it fantastic. It was the second, but an easy to pick up read.
Both Harlan Coben.
I have 2 others from my library pick up that are not HC.

of those, I only read Fourth Wing. But TMC is on my list. Fourth wing was pretty good. It was the first Romantasy I ever read and IMHO the "sex scenes" were over the top. There is a sequel which I also read. By then I realized you could just skip the sex scenes. Can't remember if there is a third.

Hoopla just released a new C. .J. Archer audiobook, Murder on the Brighton Express. It's a cosy mystery, with a female detective. It's set in London in the beginning of the 20th century, and of course it has some romance in it. The romance is the standard kind where the couple can't get it together but the reader is rooting for them.
I just started it and so far I really like it.

Picked up a book in the new books section called "Rockin' Around the Chickadee" by Donna Andrews, because it was Christmas themed. Turns out it is book 36! in a series. I would call it a "cozy mystery" and it was entertaining and a pretty good mystery. I didn't really connect with the characters but it may be because I don't "know" them because I never read a book in this series before. A quick read and if I run across another in the series I might pick it up but won't go out of my way to search for them.
