A bit of what sounds like good news today:

Macedonia’s parliament has voted to start the process of renaming the country North Macedonia, a major step towards ending a decades-long stalemate with Greece and opening a door to NATO and the EU.

Welcome to North Macedonia: parliament votes for name change (20. Oct. 2018)

The current official name is "The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" or something like that, which in addition to sounding a bit daft is not accepted by Greece because it sounds too much like 'Macedonia' which is a name they feel they have ownership of, which is why they've blocked the country from entering into the EU and NATO.

It's a silly dispute to start with, so it's good to hear they're actually going through with this!
Macedonia's parliament has approved a constitutional amendment to change the country's name to the Republic of North Macedonia.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev narrowly secured the two-thirds majority needed in the historic vote amid a boycott by opposition nationalists.

Well, that was all rather interesting, I didn't even know there was a country called Macedonia, well now North Macedonia.

What a silly argument put forward by Greece to oppose the original name.

So, both North Macedonia and the area of Greece that'that's called Macedonia were once part of the original Macedonia?

What a kerfluffle over nothing. Good grief.
