Anyone on here who is a vegan Muslim? With Eid coming up and the annual sacrificial animal slaughtering, I wonder what other vegan Muslims think of this.

Personally I believe there's nothing wrong with it but I think it's unnecessary when there's so many other good things one can do to celebrate Eid.

For example, instead of giving meat to the needy, why not give them healthy plant food like oats or lentil soup? Or a treat like coffee? Or money?

There's so much things that are better than slaughtering innocent animals just to imitate prophet Abraham (peace be upon him). Why not imitate his character, his courage, his faith? Even God says the righteous deeds are better than slaughtering.

In Islam it's spoken of about "humane" slaughtering. I understand what they are saying: cause the animal the least amount of suffering. But why slaughter at all? Is it necessary? In the overwhelming majority of cases, no it's not. There's enough plants for everyone! 😊

What do other vegans think of this?
