I like Russell Brand, He's intelligent enough to recognize that both the democrats, and the republicans are bad.

Many right wingers don't like him either.

Yes and it's only in the US that it's discussed. Over here in Europe people don't ask other vegans if they are left/right/centre wing. Moreover, seem to more willingly accept other people political convictions.

China, Cuba, and Vietnam have been socialist for decades.

It's a mistake to equate the left with socialism. That's mostly a right wing politician's talking point, though some on the left foolishly use it as well. The left (in America) is far from true socialism. The majority simply want to fix the problems caused by strict capitalism by implementing more social programs to create a more balanced society. They are not talking about eliminating capitalism to create a socialist country.
