Bin Laden's son urges overthrow of Saudi rulers
The son of Al-Qaeda's slain founder Osama bin Laden has urged Saudis to "overthrow" the kingdom's rulers in order to "free" themselves from US influence, SITE Intelligence Group reported Wednesday.
In an undated audio message, Hamza bin Laden urged Saudi youth to join the Yemen-based Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) to "gain the necessary experience" to fight, according to SITE.

US intelligence officials have said that 23-year-old Hamza was the favourite son of the 9/11 mastermind who had been grooming him to take over as Al-Qaeda's leader.

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of Osama bin Laden's death, experts have noted Hamza's increasing prominence among jihadists in comparison to that of Egyptian Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.

I always thought it was annoying how the media and politicians portrayed Bin Laden almost as the new Hitler, i.e. some major bogeyman and evil-doer who was somehow personally behind every little Islamist terrorist attack, in the same way Hitler was somehow personally involved in the murder of 6 million Jews. Or at least that is the impression you get from observing the significance placed on him in parts of American media. This allows for a relatively easy "victory" when your military, the most powerful on the planet, manages to kill the guy after hunting him for a decade, but it ignores the fact you weren't in a war against a single bogeyman, or against a single terrorist group, you were at war against a whole ideology.

So it's consistent logic, although flawed, if they're now looking for a new bogeyman, so they can explain why the terrorists are still targeting American and western interests. "We killed that evil monster Osama bin Laden and won that war, except, damnit, now the son has taken over that terrorist business, al qaeda, damnit, we forgot to kill the son!"
