Free 3-Day Grassroots Escalation Workshops in Florida (July 7 – 10)
We’re taking control of our own movement and invite you to join the revolution.

At War is prepared to build a grassroots army equipped to establish itself in our own communities. We need grassroots networks that have the ability to mobilize offline, under the radar. And we are using the internet going forward to get activists off the internet! We need to be able to send out one text message and have 100 activists show up [...]

Karen Kline will be conducting intensive workshops at the home of a colleague with Eleventh Hour for Animals in Florida. We do not have fancy hotel rooms, t-shirts, booze, vegan vendors, welfarists asking you to write checks, or masturbatory speakers. For those things you will have to find a standard AR conference that will guarantee to keep turning potential activists into check-writing sign-waving eunuchs. [...]

If you understand the animals are in a state of emergency and want to do more, then you are one of us. If you want to continue to write “radical” blogs, use tough words online, and pontificate to a bunch of vegan drones from a facebook pedestal, then you are one of them. We’ve drawn our line in the sand. [...]

For further information and to apply for a spot, please write to info@atwarforanimals.com. We are opening up these workshops to 5 – 7 activists at a time, so space is limited.

Please join us. Because we are

A few of my thoughts on this:

Vegans make up a very small percentage of the population, and it's not really growing much as a lot of people find it difficult to stay vegan for very long. The concept of animal rights seems incredibly foreign to almost everyone except vegans.

The people behind the email may be able to save a few animals, but the likely result of some of the methods hinted at would be practically universal condemnation. A PR catastrophe that would set back the movement years.

What is needed is increasing the vegan percentage of the population, and increasing the support for animal-friendly practices and policies in general. It's a slow and boring process. It involves working to provide support networks, better labeling of food and other products, and keeping the wider case for animals in the public consciousness over time. It could mean participating in Internet forums like VV. It could mean being a member of a "boring" organisation like the Vegan Society. It could mean posting cat videos on FB etc.

So what are they going to do?

Call themselves a militia and take over a slaughterhouse, to declare their version of the constitution?

... ok, I have looked at the FB group, so more likely take over some university institute.

Terrorism #101 ... if you want to be taken seriously, you should at least bring some posters with arabic letters...

Honey or vinegar...

The trouble with being militant is that you only end up attracting more militants.

And since militants are a small percentage of an already small group, the rate of attrition is bound to be faster than the recruiting rate.
