Oatly makes one of the best plant based ice creams ever. They seem to be doing well in the International market:

Over recent months, there has been a spike in plant-based fundraising taking place in the Canadian market. Around 70 percent of young Canadians believe that plantbased meat is here to stay, 77% of Canadian consumers understand the harmful environmental impact of eating red meat, and 74% of Canadians see meat reduction as essential to reduce their carbon footprint.

What plant-based products can you produce for customers?

Nele Kunath: Our plant-based core business currently revolves around cheese alternative products, incl. cream cheese alternatives, as well as sauces, dips, and dressings, which we successfully market both on the German as well as international markets.

Our key specialities are the development of plant or fruit-based products without additives, low sugar products, and organic raw materials that meet the demands of the German Nutrition Association [DGE]. For us, organic packaging made from PLA is equally self-evident as environmentally friendly logistics and using 100% renewable energy for production.

Sweden’s Peas of Heaven produces pea-based burgers, meatballs, bacon, mince, various types of sausage, and is on a mission is to “reach everyone who’s curious about plant-based food, regardless of whether it’s a one-day choice or a lifestyle.” This March, the young brand launched an online store to allow customers to purchase products online for home delivery, and promptly sold out within 24 hours.

To celebrate UK National Sausage Roll day this 5th June (yes, that’s a thing) plant-based producer Meatless Farm will be serving up free vegan sausage rolls from a vending machine for one day only. To be based on London’s South Bank, the brand claims that it will be the UK’s first plant-based sausage roll vending machine.

With a built-in oven in the machine, the sausage rolls can be served hot or cold, and the free samples will be available from 11:30 am until 7 pm. The sausage roll vending machine can be found at Observation Point, 56 Upper Ground, South Bank on June 5.

As we reported yesterday, market leader Oatly has entered a court battle with UK farm Glebe Farm Foods over a trademark disagreement regarding its PureOaty brand. Oatly has since contacted vegconomist with a brief comment as below.

The case at the London High Court will put forward that PureOaty, one of the plant milks availablefrom the farm which produces oats and other cereals, infringes copyright and that the packaging and name are too similar. Glebe Farm’s owner Phillip Rayner told the BBC: “Oatly says the name and packaging are too similar to theirs, but when we compare the two products side by side, we are surprised by this.”



 
UK-based vegan recipe kit brand Grubby has raised over £920,000 in a crowdfunding campaign, exceeding its target of £720,000. Contributors included angel investors such as the founders of Skyscanner and World First.

Grubby claims to be the first entirely plant-based recipe kit in the UK. Since its launch, it has delivered over 50,000 plant-based meals and has grown over 130 percent quarter on quarter.
