Wool Parish Council received a letter from PETA asking them to consider renaming the village to
“put Wool in the spotlight and promote kindness to sheep.”
PETA’s view is that wool is “stolen” from sheep. The group - whose motto reads, in part,
that “animals are not ours to wear” - argues that alternative vegan

Indeed.

Whenever I think I have reached the utmost in thoughtless stunts from PETA, they manage to surprise me again!
 
I'm starting to regret having bought a wool sweater on my trip to Ireland and England back in 2000. I'm starting to wish even more I had paid greater attention to vegans earlier than I did. Even in situations where it isn't actually necessary to abuse an animal to get what you want from them (you don't have to kill an animal or have them reproduce to use their wool, as you do to get their flesh or use their milk), abuse still happens, evidently.
