Morocco’s king on Saturday appealed for “a united front against extremism” and urged members of the North African country’s diaspora, many of them in Europe, to defend a tolerant form of Islam.

Mohammed VI called on the five million Moroccans living abroad to “defend peace, harmony and unity in their respective countries of residence.”

“We strongly condemn the murder of innocents,” the King said, adding that the killing in France last month of a priest was “unforgivable.”

Morocco Dismantles All-female ISIS-linked Terrorist Cell

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) dismantled on Monday a terrorist cell composed of 10 women linked to the Islamic State (ISIS-Daesh) terrorist cell active in the cities of Kenitra, Tan Tan, Sidi Slimane, Salé, Tangier, Oulad Teima, Zagora and Sidi Taibi (near Kenitra), said the Interior Ministry.

This operation, which is part of efforts to counter ISIS terrorist threats, also led to the seizure of chemicals likely to be used in the manufacture of explosives, the Ministry said in a statement, adding that these products will be submitted to the competent services for scientific expertise.

The first elements of the investigation revealed that the suspects, who pledged allegiance to the so-called emir of the “Islamic state”, joined the hostile agenda of this organization by seeking to obtain products used in the manufacture of explosive devices with the aim to carry out suicide operations against sensitive facilities in Morocco,” it said.
