Fight against ISIS: Extra US troops in Iraq soon! - Iraqi News
Peshmerga official: No US military bases in Kurdistan Region

Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga ministry denied that the United States will establish a military base in the region.
“There is no plan for setting up any military base belonging to the US or other countries under the coalition in the Kurdistan Region,” Jabar Yawar, chief of staff for the Peshmerga ministry, told Rudaw on Thursday.

Yawar continued that information circulating regarding this assertion was not correct.

“The operation room has been in Kurdistan since the beginning of the war against ISIS and it’s not something new,” said Yawar, referring to the US-led coalition operation room in Erbil where coalition forces and the Peshmerga coordinate airstrikes on the Islamic State.

Iraqi and Iranian media reported that the Kurdistan Regional Government and the United States, in the military Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two nations last week, had agreed that the US would establish five military bases in the Kurdish region.

Shiite militia ‘thirsty for American blood’ warn against US troop deployment
The Saraya al-Salam, or the Peace Brigades of Shiite cleric Muqtada Sadr's militia have stated that they oppose any American involvement in the battle for Mosul and that US troops will be targeted if they are deployed to the country.

“The Iraqi army and the Shiite Militia (Hashd al Shaabi) are capable of liberating Mosul from the hands of Islamic State and they do not need the Americans,” said Alaa Aboud, the spokesperson for Saraya al Salam on Sumaria TV on Wednesday.

Aboud warned that American troops will be legitimate targets of his militia who want to handle Mosul themselves.

“The Saraya al Salam is ready to push ISIS out of Mosul with the participation of 10,000 fighters if the Americans do not interfere.” He added. “They are ready to target the Americans and they are thirsty for their blood.”

The group leader Sadr also warned the Americans against any troop deployment this week, following a US statement of sending extra special forces for the Mosul offensive.
