A huge search for missing TV presenter Dr Michael Mosley (Dr Mosley has been an advocate for intermittent fasting diets, including the 5:2 diet and The Fast 800 diet) is currently underway on the Greek Island of Symi.

The TV personality, 67, disappeared after setting off for a coastal walk on Wednesday (June 5).

I read he set off when it was very hot (40deg C) and without his smartphone, so he didn't have Google maps or similar to help find his way.

No water. Wouldn't you think that as a medical doctor, he would know better? Many seniors have strokes and/or heart attacks in the heat. I'm nearly certain that they will find his body soon.

Yes, that's quite a major mistake as well! He must have temporarily lost his mind. Maybe he had an argument with the wife and then left in a huff?

It is such a strange situation. Why he would go out in that heat without a phone or water is just mindblowing. At this point there is surely little to no hope of finding him alive?

So incredibly sad. He's such a nice man. I listen to his podcast often.

That is a possibility. Why would anyone who is a senior citizen set out for such a long walk without any water and a phone? It's mind boggling. Moreover, the area looks very arid and there is no shade.

Spending (if he was just injured) 4 days without water in intense heat is not possible. The authorities are not mentioning it, however, it must be a recovery operation by now.

Since I moved to my new area I went out without my phone once and it is such a bizarre feeling as I was meeting my husband but I couldn't contact him. Luckily we had agreed to meet in a certain place at a certain time.

Very weird to go out without a phone and a water bottle as I always carry them with me when I go out.

That is sad and such a strange story.

Totally agree. Moreover, it has now been revealed that he left his wife at the resort because he was feeling unwell! Why on earth would he set out in 40° C without a phone and water if he was feeling poorly. The walk would have taken him an hour to get to the place that he was going to.
So very strange, indeed.

Maybe he had some heat confusion. It sounds very odd behaviour.

At least his body has been found and therefore maybe some answers as to what happened, rather than his family left wondering, which is definitely much worse.

The coroner could not determine the cause of death due to the decomposition of the body.

According to the police, Dr Mosley died of heat exhaustion after having taken the wrong path whilst hiking:
