US McDonalds veg burger expected this year

According to a report by "Business Insider", McDonalds is expected to begin offering veg burgers in the United States in mid-year 2020, assuming that the Canadian McDonalds veg burger sells well: https://www.businessinsider.com/mcdonalds-might-launch-veggie-burger-in-the-us-2020-ubs-2019-9 .

Considering that Carl's Jr. has sold 4.5 million meatless Beyond Burgers (per Forbes magazine https://www.forbes.com/sites/alicia...ess-inspires-a-second-iteration/#51fa476e22c4 ), it seems extremely likely that U.S. McDonalds will soon have veg burgers for sale.

Per Reuters Business News, McDonalds is currently working with Beyond Meat, in order to ensure adequate supplies of veg meat for McDonalds' projected sales. McDonalds already offers veg burgers in the UK, Canada, Germany, and India.

I hope this means they'll make their fries at least vegetarian. (AFAIK, they still use beef flavoring in their oil. They also use some sort of milk product in the oil.)

According to the McDonalds USA website, here are the current ingredients for McDonalds french fries (chips) in the United States:

Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Natural Beef Flavor [wheat And Milk Derivatives]*), Dextrose, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate (maintain Color), Salt. *natural Beef Flavor Contains Hydrolyzed Wheat And Hydrolyzed Milk As Starting Ingredients.

I can't whether the "Natural Beef Flavor" actually contains beef.


In Canada, McDonalds french fries are vegan. The ingredients are:

Potatoes, high oleic low linolenic canola oil and/or canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural flavour (vegetable source), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophopshate (maintain colour), citric acid (preservative), dimethylpolysiloxane (antifoaming agent). Cooked in vegetable oil (high oleic low linoleic canola oil and/or canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, citric acid, dimethylpolysiloxane)
