'' Thousands of passengers have seen their flights delayed by what is believed to be a "technical issue" at southern England's main air traffic control centre in Swanwick, Hampshire.''

Apparently it is due to a problem with the switching night/day mode system.

Airline companies are currently losing millions of £ but a flight spokesman said
the only concern is passenger saftey.
As Heathrow is the busiest airport in the world, many flights from other parts of
the world are being currently cancelled.

The problem was resolved last night at 7.30 pm and apparently the effects are going to last for the whole day because of the backlog of planes.
The most amazing thing is that there was no Plan B which means that if the switch mode doesn't function, planes are grounded.
