For those Americans who want to buy USA-made products, it can be challenging. It seems that practically everything is made out of the country these days. But take heart; there are SOME products still made in the USA. I thought this thread could be a running list of those products. I saw a program on the History channel the other day called Made in the USA which spotlighted 5 companies whose products are made in the USA. They are:

New Balance Athletic shoes
Segway Personal Transporters
Discovery LingLing potstickers
K'Nex Toys
Annin Flag Makers

This heightened my awareness of the importance of Buying American. When I was in the supermarket on Friday, I bought socks that had a Made in the USA label on them. They are:

No Nonsense Women's Cushioned Crew Socks

What else is out there that is still made in the USA?

I actually got an email forward about this very thing this afternoon. Most of the items I was told to buy in the email are either not vegan, or are made by companies that test on animals. Plus the email said that president Obama made it illegal to print "made in the USA" on product packaging so that I would continue sending my money to socialist countries.

See, I knew somebody would post this. Again, I'm not in the mood for this kind of thing.
Snarkiest comment of this thread.

It's hard to really sit down and think of products that are made in the USA. So many products are imported. I really should be more concerned about this..

This is a public message board, and to expect to be able to audit other's responses is an unrealistic expectation. Also, it's not a lie to say I was made in the USA (although I don't really like to think about my *ahem* manufacture ).

As for buying things made in the USA, for me personally, it's more important to buy things ethically produced (or as ethically as possible, i.e. not tested on animals, fair trade, etc.) than to buy things made in America.

I will have to check out New Balance. I need new dog walking shoes soon.

Made in the USA matters to me, after seeing friends', my brother's and my own job outsourced. Well it always did matter to me, it's just been reinforced lately.

I don't run, can't afford a Segway, LingLing products all have meat in them, I don't need toys, or want any sort of flag.

Actually I think they do have a vegan version. Maybe I've got my brands confused but I swear I've bought them at the HFS.

Segway Personal Transporters

The guy who invented Segway did so in NH, in the city where I live. Some of my engineer friends work for him. It's a great company to get into. Segway has since been sold and is manufactured elsewhere, but we have local pride about Segways.

Interesting, I looked on their website and every product had meat in it.

Anyway, cruelty-free is more important to me than where something is made.

I buy the LingLing vegetable spring rolls, they have no meats! There are vegetable potstickers too, but they don't taste good to me.
