I've never had them before and just picked up some at the market. I have no idea how to cook them, so I need some delicious, but easy recipes. :)

There is a recipe in the recipe section - under festive. However it does have chestnuts in the recipe which makes it more of a winter dish.

I made brussel sprout soup once.

Once being exactly the number of times any sane person needs to make soup out of brussel sprouts to know never to do it again.

Anyways, traditional Brit brussel sprout recipe ..

Ingredients.

Brussel sprouts
Large pan of water
Pinch of salt

Method.

Bring water to boil in pan, add salt and brussel sprouts

Boil untill house smells like old peoples home that specialises in chronic bowel disorders

Move any pets who failed to escape from the house to the garden and try to revive them with CPR

AND SO..back to brussels.

Yes this is a recipe familar to me and a 'must have' at my family Christmas dinners for centuries!

How we do it is ..lightly cook the brussels but only to crunchy stage and then toss in a pan with just enough Veggie margarine to lightly coat them. Mix in a handful of quartered chestnuts and some Veggie bacon which has previously been fried or grilled until crispy. Add generous sprinkling of black pepper and you have brussels that are extremely and surprisingly almost edible.

I ended up roasting them. They were so-so, nothing I would make again. The outside leaves were good, but the heart not so much.

Laura Calder ( A Canadian chef) just sautées the leaves in evo and adds a squirt of balsamic vinegar towards the end of the cooking time.
