Austerity politics mean young people, especially in already deprived areas have been left to fend for themselves, with a general lack of opportunities for them in society, which again means some of them will inevitably turn to gangs and crime. And since people are generally not allowed to carry guns in this country, they go for the next best thing, the good, old knife.
