As far as I know baking powder is vegan. I sure hope so, as I use it in baking, myself. My understanding of baking powder is that it is made of these three ingredients:
1. Bicarbonate of Soda (baking soda, which is a mineral and is mined)
2. Cream of Tartar (made from grapes; a byproduct of wine making)
3. Cornstarch (as the name says, it's made from corn)
Also, the calcium acid phosphate is vegan as far as I know. I'm quite certain if the product contained bone, they would, I assume, have to say so on the label. Calcium acid phosphate is commonly used in baking powder, from what I read.
You can always check it on a "is it vegan" type website.
I've never heard of calcium acid phosphate, but it seems that may be made from bones....
I've always used Rumford or Clabber Girl aluminum free baking powder, that is just monocalcium phosphate, sodium bicarbonate, and cornstarch
