"A healthy individual can have up to 18 flatulences per day and be perfectly normal," he adds.

Most gas made by the microbiome is odorless. It's simply carbon dioxide, hydrogen or methane. But sometimes a little sulfur slips in there.

"Yes, a more fiber-rich diet will produce more gas," Kashyap adds. "But completely eliminating fiber from the diet should not be the first option. You don't want to starve your microbes."

This should probably go in the Anonymous Confessions thread, but I think a normal day for me is way over 18 flatulences. I do eat lots of beans and cabbagey vegetables though, and I don't think my diet is causing me harm... just embarrassment when I can't go someplace private or don't feel it coming.

Happy microbes???

And a new apology is born ...

"I do beg your pardon, your majesty. It would appear that my microbes have much to be mirthfull about"

Followed by ...

"Sorry about the Corgis, m'aam. They must all have had very weak hearts"
