By lunchtime today the chief executives of Britain's leading companies will already have earned more than most British workers will all year, according to a report.

The survey by the High Pay Centre compares the pay of FTSE 100 chief executives with the average earnings of British workers.

It found that the median pay for a chief executive in a FTSE100 company was almost £4 million in 2015, or £1,000 an hour, compared to the national living wage of £7.20.
