What elephants can teach scientists about fighting cancer in humans

This article explains that, apparently, elephants have multiple copies of a gene that protects against cancer- whereas humans generally have only one.

An aside: I didn't care for a comment in the article about how mice can easily be modified genetically for research; I know mice can be serious pests, and they don't live very long, but I wish that people would show them at least a little respect.
