I purchased some instant ramen in compostable containers made from cornstarch. The cornstarch plastic was supposed to degrade in about 6 months. I kept on using them because I didn't like microwaving my food in regular plastic.

It has been 6 years, and the cornstarch plastic is still going strong. They are exactly the same as when I started using them 6 years ago. I even put them in the freezer, and nothing happens.

All of the regular plastic fast food containers that I recused, have cracked, and died. These cornstarch compostable containers seem to last forever.

I don't understand this.

Do you have a compost pile? I dunno, maybe the mix of heat, moisture, and soil might be involved in their decomposition.
I will say, there are so many things like this that I feel are fradulant.

I remember when my old company bought some cornstarch packing peanuts, when they encountered moisture they immediately melted, which had it's drawbacks. They also invited mice

You might do an experiment. bury one, maybe put one out on the lawn under a sprinkler. chop one up and see if the birds will eat it.
