Cats grasp the laws of physics

I don't do this anymore, but when my cat Sabrina was still very young (she's 18 now), I'd play with her by rolling a little toy ball under the bathroom door, which hung high enough that there was space underneath. I'd be inside and she'd be outside the bathroom. She'd bat the ball under the door towards me and I'd bat the ball back to her. Sometimes when I didn't send her the ball back, she'd come around the door, find the ball, and bat it under the door. Then she'd go back outside and send me the ball again. I loved her intelligence when she did that.

Heehee ... that reminds me of one instance when my son was teasing our cat ... standing behind the sofa so that he was well out of her reach ... she simply looked up at him knowingly, then jumped and clawed his foot that was still visible beside the sofa, to teach him not to tease her...
